Bishop Eric Menees

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin

Bishop Eric Menees was born in Compton, California on November 21, 1961 and is a tenth generation Los Angelino. Bishop Menees graduated from the General Theological Seminary with an M.Div and from Seabury Western Theological Seminary with a D.Min.

Following his ordination Bishop Menees served Spanish language congregations in East Los Angeles and Santa Ana in the Diocese of Los Angeles. From there he was called to the Diocese of San Diego to be the chaplain at The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, California and later as vicar and then rector of Grace Church, San Marcos. In 2011 by God’s grace Bishop Menees was elected the fifth bishop of San Joaquin succeeding Bishop John David Schofield. Bishop Menees serves as bishop for Caminemos Juntos the ACNA Spanish Language ministry support network, leads the Border Bishops’ Conference seeking to evangelize and plant churches in Mexico, is the ACNA representative to the Anglican Province of South America and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Bishop Menees is married to Florence Guadalupe and has two grown children, Milagro a registered nurse, and Sebastian a firefighter.

Christina Pestana

Diocesan Administrator & Vocations Officer

Ms. Christina Pestana assists Bishop Menees as the diocesan administrator and also currently serves as vocations officer. She wears many hats in the role of administrator. Before her work here she served in local churches and ministries including St. James Anglican Church (ACNA), a Baptist church replant, and Youth With a Mission. Her background includes community development and organizational development, and her work has taken her to India, South Africa, Israel, Romania, Kenya, and Tanzania. She has a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Social Science from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Raul Villa

Raul Villa has been with the diocesan office the longest having started  in April 2009. Raul was introduced to the job by Christina the bookkeeper at the time. Raul serves in many ways in our office but primarily providing IT support and receptionist duties. Raul also works for Emmanuel Anglican Church

Virginia Gottlieb

Virginia has been working as the Diocesan Bookkeeper for a little over a year. Her duties include A/P, A/R, Payroll and Insurance, and she also handles the books for a number of congregations in the Diocese. She has been in accounting for over 15 years. She is married with two children and she enjoys using her bilingual skills.

Dave Francis

Diocesan Treasurer ​

As diocesan treasurer, Dave Francis is the person in charge of diocesan funds. Dave is a long time member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Visalia. 

Dr. Bill Atwood

Diocesan Director of Development

As the diocesan director of development Dr. Bill Atwood is charged with raising funds to support the ministry of the diocese. Bill has been a longtime member of Christ Church Oakhurst.
